Higher Than You Could Ever Be

I used to keep you on a shelve, for the longest time;
pretending you were perfect, thinking you were mine.
That shelve came down the other day, by the great divine.
By His almighty grace, my heart was set free to feel, well, fine.

Not sure what makes me this way,
Nor what makes you more straight than gay,
But I know now that yes I’ll be hurt, but in the end okay,
I’m setting myself free right now, letting myself walk away.

Be entrapped by your own misery,
Ease the pain with diesel, think you’re free on Ecstasy.
I need none of that, I had my bliss (in you) and now I’m free;
Watch my wings soar. I’ll fly higher than you’ll ever be.
